About Our Studio

Modest Booth: Self Portrait Studio allows you to take professional photos with a click of a button! Our studio rooms are equipped with professional grade cameras and lighting - our photo results speak for themselves!

 

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR SESSION

Step 1: Book your session at Modest Booth: Self Portrait Studio

Step 2: Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your session time. We are located at 101 John St. S., Hamilton, ON, L8N 2C1

Step 3: Staff will give you a brief tutorial on operating the wireless remote trigger and other studio tips and rules.

Step 4: Start your private unlimited session in our MULTI Room or CLOUD Room.

Step 5: You have 10-15 minutes to select your photos for physical prints (one 5"x7" print per guest). Your whole session will be uploaded on our password-protected online gallery (allow up to 30 minutes for upload)

Step 6: Leave us a Google review sharing your experience, and receive an extra 5"x7" print for FREE! Just show one of our staff your reviews, then select an extra photo for print!

Step 7: As a group, select one photo from your session to post on our collection wall!

GENERAL INQUIRIES

A self portrait studio is where you can take your own professional photos with a remote clicker, without a photographer. Our studio rooms are equipped with professional grade cameras and lighting, as well as computer monitors to view yourself and your captured photos.

Since our studio is located in Downtown Hamilton, there are many paid parking lots and street parking spots a few minutes away by walk. Closest would be behind our building, you can download the app Blinkay to quickly pay for parking (recommended to save time), or find the parking machines within the lot.

The closest public street parking would be along Catharine St S (between Main and Hunter).

Please keep this in mind and plan ahead to avoid being late for your session and cutting into your session time.

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring anything that will help make your photo shoot successful. You can bring along any props with you (balloons, flowers, accessories, cake, etc.)

Yes! If you need some extra hands to help make your photo shoot successful, you may bring up to 1 extra person. This person can help press the remote clicker for you to take the photos, or help with setting up. However, this person must not participate in the photo shoot, or we reserve the right to charge this person as an extra guest ($20+Tax).

Unfortunately, due to the pre-existing structure of the building, we regret to inform you that our studio is not wheelchair accessible. There are 3 steps up to our front entrance.

Yes, we have a washroom in the studio.

Yes, both studio rooms are private, so you may change outfits in the studio or in our washroom during your session.

If you need to change prior to your booked time, we recommend you arrive earlier.

Please note: the session time is based on the total running time, meaning that the clock continues during outfit changes or other breaks. To make the most of the session, it’s recommended to plan outfits and poses in advance and organize them for quick transitions. This ensures more time is spent capturing great photos!

Our studio operates by appointment only, and staff availability is dedicated to scheduled sessions.

Therefore, we do not accept walk-ins. Please book a session in advance, and refrain from walking in to avoid disappointment. Our online booking systems closes

BOOKING INQUIRIES

Please include the total number of people and/or pets.

Children 3 years old and under are free of charge (with purchase of base price 1-2 guests), and do not have to be included in the guest count.

FAQ: What If the session is just for the child individually?

To clarify, the note about children 3 and under being free refers to them not being counted as an additional guest when booking a session. This is a courtesy for parents so they aren’t charged extra for bringing their little ones along.

However, if the session is specifically for the child (or children) as the main focus, the session would still be subject to the base price for 1-2 guests.

The extra unaccounted guest is welcome to join you as long as this does not exceed the max number of guests per room. Please inform staff of the additional guest. If you have any other questions about the number of guests feel free to reach out to us by phone or email. Subject to staff approval, the extra guest will be charged $20+HST at the studio prior to your session.

If you paid for an extra guest, and they are not able to make it anymore, please note we do not refund that portion of your booking.

You can take as many photos as you'd like (UNLIMITED) during the duration of your booked session. You will have digital access to all your photos after your session.

You will receive an email after your session with a link and your gallery password. You can access your password-protected session photos on our gallery page at https://gallery.modestbooth.ca/

Please allow up to 1 hour after your session for all of your photos to be uploaded on our gallery page.

Please allow up to 10-20 minutes for your photos to be printed after you have selected your photos. The timing is dependent on the number of guests/prints.

We have 3 print template options:

  • Single
  • Double (2 photo template)
  • Quad (4 photo template)

This free print will have our signature logo watermark at the bottom of your selected template.

For a logo-free print it is the same cost as an 'extra print':

5x7" - $5 each

8x10" - $10 each

5x7" - $5 each

8x10" - $10 each

When you purchase an extra print, you can decide to print with our signature templates, or a single borderless print.

Our photos are printed with a professional CANON photo printer, and high quality photo paper.

POLICIES

RESCHEDULING
You can reschedule your session once, free of charge if you request it at least 24 hours prior to your booked session. Within 24 hours, rescheduling will be subject to a $15 rescheduling fee, please reach out to us by email at info@modestbooth.ca
Rescheduling requests made during or after your scheduled session will not be accepted and will be subject to our 'NO SHOW' Policy.

CANCELLATION/REFUND
Refund Eligibility
: Your session is eligible for a refund when both of the following conditions are met:

  • You made your reservation within the last 72 hours (3 days) of your request for refund AND
  • There are at least 72hrs (3 days) remaining before your scheduled session.

Rescheduling Option: If you do not meet the criteria above, we’re happy to offer a rescheduling for any future date and time of your choice when you are ready. Please refer to our rescheduling policy for details.

LATE ARRIVAL
Please plan ahead to avoid being late, taking to account transportation/parking. We encourage you to arrive 5-10 minutes before your session to make the most of your booked time! Unfortunately, if you are late, this will result in a shorter session, and we may not be able to extend your session time.

NO SHOWS
Please note that if you do not arrive at your booked session time and fail to provide prior notice, your session will be forfeited. In such cases, you will not qualify for a refund or the opportunity to reschedule. This policy helps ensure fairness to all clients and allows us to manage staff scheduling effectively.
